stealing cars in gta 6 just got way more complicated, slim jims and key cloners

Saw the GameSpot piece on car theft and it's exactly the kind of thing I was hoping Rockstar would do after RDR2. They're leaning hard into realism again, and now we know stealing cars isn't a one button smash and grab anymore.
For older cars, you can still smash the window like always. But if you want to be quiet about it, you can use a slim jim. You know, the thing roadside assistance uses when you lock your keys in. It triggers a short minigame with the control stick on PS5 or Xbox. Once you're in, you hotwire it and go.
Newer cars are a whole different story. Including whatever Rockstar's fake Tesla ends up being. You can't slim jim those. You need a key cloner. It does a relay attack, basically mimicking the key fob signal so the car thinks you have the key. No alarm, no broken glass. Just walk up and drive off.
I'm already imagining the chaos. Trying to do the slim jim minigame while a cop is walking toward you. Or fumbling the key cloner on a supercar in a crowded parking lot. Rockstar really wants every crime to feel earned this time.
Also curious if Jason and Lucia can both carry these tools, or if it's tied to one character. The article says presumably they can keep them on hand while exploring Vice City, but no confirmation on inventory limits.
Anyone else already planning to avoid new cars entirely just to skip the relay attack minigame?

Slim jim minigame sounds fun actually. But doing relay attack on every new car? I don't know, might get old fast. I'll probably end up smashing windows even on luxury cars just because it's quicker. Hope both characters can keep the tools without weird inventory limits.
