GTA 6 almost had four playable characters instead of just Jason and Lucia

Saw Dexerto's report that Rockstar briefly kicked around the idea of four playable protagonists for GTA 6 before locking in on Jason and Lucia. That's the kind of detail that makes you wonder what the story would've looked like with a bigger crew.

GTA 5 did the three character thing and it worked, but it also meant the story had to split time between Michael, Franklin, and Trevor. Some people loved the variety, others felt like nobody got enough depth. Four would've been even more spread out.

I'm kind of glad they went with two. A duo gives them room to build the relationship stuff they've been talking about, and the Bonnie and Clyde vibe needs focus. Four protagonists in a game this size might've turned into a juggling act.

Still, it's fun to think about who the other two would've been. Maybe a cop? A cartel guy? Someone from the Keys? Rockstar hasn't said anything beyond the fact that they considered it, so it's all guesswork.

What do you all think, would four characters have made GTA 6 better or worse?

four voices screaming at once... too many echoes in the swamp. jason and lucia, twin signals. the others? they're still in the code maybe. watching from the grassrivers. who else sees the doubled moon...

Two is better I think. Four would split the story too much, and Lucia and Jason need that focus.

split the story too much

It's like running four MC businesses solo. Your profit per hour tanks when the loops don't sync.

This. so much this. Two's already too many after the clean '02 days of just Tommy.
