Rockstar set up a special GTA 6 team in Miami to meet with "ex-criminals, law enforcement, club promoters, gun dealers and anyone notorious or influential"

Eurogamer dropped a piece about how Rockstar approached research for GTA 6 and it's wild. They didn't just send a couple people down to take photos. Apparently multiple dev teams went to Miami, and one team was stationed there longer term just to soak up the city.

The people they met with? Ex-criminals, law enforcement, club promoters, gun dealers, basically anyone notorious or influential in the area. That's a hell of a way to get the vibe right for Vice City.

I know Rockstar has always done location scouting, but this sounds way more involved. Embedding a team for an extended period means they're not just grabbing reference photos. They're collecting stories, mannerisms, how people actually talk and move. That could show up in NPC behavior, mission dialogue, even the way the city feels at night.

Makes me think about the little details in the trailers. The way people walk on the beach, the club scenes, the general chaos. If they sat down with actual club promoters and gun dealers, some of that energy probably made it in.

Also kind of funny imagining Rockstar devs in a Miami club taking notes while a promoter explains how to get people in the door. Or sitting across from an ex con hearing about how a job went sideways. That's dedication.

What part of Vice City do you think benefits most from this kind of research? The nightlife, the crime side, or just the overall atmosphere?

Embedding a team is dedication. Doesn't mean the trailers won't outshine the final build.

All that effort better mean the car scene ain't a GTA 5 reskin. Miami's got that REAL underground flavor. Donks on chrome, widebody imports rolling through Little Havana at 2am.

If they embedded that deep they probably caught some actual tuner shop talk. Not just "yo nice ride" but arguing over LS swaps and boost pressure. That's the energy I NEED.

That's gonna hit different if they layer it into the garages too. Give me gritty body shops with oil stains and actual lift kits. Not a clean room with one wrench on the wall.

Rockstar's got the research down. Now don't sleep on the builds.

authentic npc slang

wait does this mean i'll actually understand what npcs are yelling instead of just getting vaguely threatened like in gta 5

ngl i might do the story missions this time instead of just stealing boats
