Zelnick says Take-Two isn't for sale, so Netflix can keep its hands off GTA 6
Strauss Zelnick just shut down any talk of a Take-Two buyout. In a new interview he basically said the company isn't shopping itself around and has zero interest in being acquired, by Netflix or anyone else. "If anyone deserves to be independent, we do," was the gist of it.
I know there's been chatter for years about big tech companies wanting to snap up a publisher with a catalog like this. Microsoft bought Bethesda, Sony's been on a spree, and Netflix has been making noise about getting into gaming in a serious way. But Zelnick made it clear Take-Two isn't part of that conversation. They're doing just fine on their own.
And honestly, thank god. The last thing any of us want is some streaming service meddling with Rockstar's output. Imagine GTA 6 locked behind a Netflix subscription, or worse, chopped up into episodic content with a "next chapter next month" model. No thanks. Take-Two staying independent means Rockstar keeps calling the shots the way they always have, with the budget and the time they need to actually deliver.
Zelnick's been on a media run lately, talking about preorders, the extended look, and now this. It feels like he's drawing a line in the sand before the game drops. They're not looking for a buyer. They're not worried about console prices. They're just heads down, ready to launch the biggest entertainment product of the decade. That confidence is honestly reassuring.
