Zelnick says GTA 6 is an incredible bargain at $80, and I kinda get it

So Strauss Zelnick just came out and said GTA 6 at $80 is an "incredible bargain." The quote is basically that their goal is to deliver way more value than what they charge. Not trying to maximize price, just trying to make the game so good that $80 feels like a steal.

I remember when the pre-orders went live and people were groaning about the $80 standard / $100 ultimate. But honestly, I've been thinking about it. I paid $60 for GTA V in 2013 and I'm still playing it. That's over a decade of value. If 6 is even half as replayable, $80 is nothing. I've spent more on games I finished in a weekend and never touched again.

Zelnick's not wrong. The amount of content Rockstar packs in is absurd. RDR2 was $60 and I'm still finding new stuff in that world. GTA 6 is going to be even bigger. Two protagonists, the whole Leonida state, Vice City, the Keys, Port Gellhorn. The extended look later this month is probably going to make $80 look like a discount.

I know some people are still holding out for a PC version or waiting for a sale, but for day one on console, I'm in. The pre-order bonus is whatever, but the base game is going to be worth it. Zelnick's not just blowing smoke, they know what they've got.

$80 is a lot upfront but Leonida dwarfs GTA V's whole map (and that was basically a county with one city). You've got Vice City proper down south, Grassrivers to the northwest, Mount Kalaga in the interior, plus the Keys sprawling east. I'm paying extra if every backroad between Port Gellhorn and Ambrosia actually leads somewhere worth finding.

I'm day one. $80 is cheap if the crew loadouts and comms are smooth at launch.

I've 100%'d every 3D and HD entry. If mission density matches San Andreas or RDR2, $80 is trivial. I'm more concerned with campaign pacing than map square footage. Rockstar's heists alone usually justify the price. I'll lock in my pre-order after the Extended Look drops.
