GTA 6 gameplay reveal breakdown: A summary of all the details we spotted

So I was going through PC Gamer's breakdown of the extended look and one little detail caught my eye. They mentioned seeing a bunch of small tactical maneuvers for pulling off crimes in disguise and getting away from the cops. That's the kind of thing I've been waiting to hear about since the first trailer.

GTA has always had some stealth elements, but a proper disguise system would be a game changer. Imagine changing clothes in a back alley to shake a wanted level, or blending into a crowd while the cops run past. The escape part is interesting too. Maybe things like cutting through buildings, using alleyways, or even causing distractions to slip away. The source didn't go into specifics, just that these little maneuvers were spotted, but it's enough to get me hyped.

I know some people are worried it'll be too scripted or just a gimmick, but if Rockstar is putting effort into small tactical options, that could make the open world feel way more alive. We've seen them do similar things in RDR2 with the witness system and changing clothes to avoid bounties, so it's not totally new for them. But applying it to a modern city with cars and cops is a different beast.

What do you all think? Are you hoping for a full disguise mechanic, or do you think it'll just be a few scripted moments? And what kind of escape tricks would you want to see?

crimes in disguise

Hope it's more than a RDR2 reskin. Changing clothes in the sticks is one thing. Vice City proper with traffic cameras and helicopter patrols is another. My worry is it'll end up being a scripted prompt instead of something I actually plan out. I've got maybe an hour a night. Make it count.

scripted prompt

That's exactly the line they need to avoid. A contextual button press to swap jackets doesn't make it a disguise system. That's just a cutscene wearing gameplay's clothes. What I'm hoping for is something the AI actually respects. You duck into a thrift store, come out in something drab, and the beat cops walk right past because they weren't handed a script that says "always spot protagonist."

The RDR2 bounty logic was a decent start, but Vice City should be harder. Cameras, witnesses who actually relay descriptions, patrol patterns that feel less like heat-seeking missiles. If Rockstar treats escape like a proper third-act sequence instead of a timer draining on the HUD, that'd be something worth remembering.
