NBA 2K27 Tops Madden NFL 27 In August, Shocking Absolutely Nobody

Circana posted the August numbers and it's the same story as last year. NBA 2K27 took the top spot again, which nobody is surprised by at this point. Madden NFL 27 took second, and the Kickoff Bundle version landed fourth, so EA got two slots in the top five.

Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls debuted at third, Star Wars Zero Company landed fifth, and Big Walk snuck in at eighth. Five of the top ten were brand new releases, which is a pretty solid month. Halo: Campaign Evolved held at sixth, Elden Ring jumped from 41st to 7th thanks to the Switch 2 port, and Mario Kart World and Splatoon Raiders rounded out the bottom.

Year to date, Resident Evil Requiem is still the record holder and nothing is touching it yet. NBA 2K27 did manage to push Crimson Desert out of third place though. 007 First Light and MLB The Show 26 are holding their spots for now.

September and October had a bunch of big drops, so those numbers will probably shuffle things around once Circana crunches them. But everyone knows what's coming in November. GTA 6 is going to make every other game on this list look like a rounding error. The only question is how long it stays at number one, and whether it breaks whatever record Resident Evil Requiem is sitting on.

How many consecutive months do you think GTA 6 will top the charts once it drops, or is it just going to sit there until 2027?
