Zelnick says the $100 Ultimate Edition is the one most people are pre-ordering
Strauss Zelnick dropped a little nugget in a new interview: apparently the $99.99 Ultimate Edition is the one flying off the digital shelves right now. Not the standard $79.99 version. The pricier one.
I mean, it makes sense when you look at what's in it. The Vintage Vice City Pack alone is a huge nostalgia hit for anyone who grew up with Tommy Vercetti, and the extra digital goodies plus the early access to the garage and outfit stuff is a nice touch. Still, I figured most people would just grab the base game and call it a day. Guess the hype is real enough that folks are going all in.
Pre-orders have been live since June 25, and we already know Rockstar isn't sharing numbers because Zelnick said they could be misleading. But this is the first time we've heard anything about which edition is leading. No hard figures, just that the Ultimate Edition is the more popular pick. For a game that's already $80 at the base level, that's kind of wild.
I'm still holding out for a physical collector's box with a map and some steelbook, but if that doesn't materialize, I might just cave and go Ultimate too. Anyone else surprised the $100 version is winning, or did you see that coming?
