Squadron 42 pushed to 2027, Chris Roberts says he won't launch into GTA 6's 'attention buzz saw'

So Chris Roberts just delayed Squadron 42 again. That game has been in development for 12 years now, and it's getting pushed into 2027. The reason? He straight up said he doesn't want to launch it into GTA 6's "attention buzz saw."
I get it honestly. Rockstar is about to drop the biggest game of the decade, maybe ever. November 19 is going to swallow every other release for months. If you're a space sim that's been cooking for over a decade, the last thing you want is to be the game everyone ignores because they're too busy robbing liquor stores in Vice City.
But also, 12 years. Twelve. GTA 6 was announced, delayed, re-announced, and is now weeks away, and Squadron 42 still isn't out. At some point you have to wonder if there's ever a "safe" window. There's always going to be some huge game on the horizon. Next year it'll be something else. Maybe the next Elder Scrolls teaser or whatever Naughty Dog is doing.
Still, I can't blame Roberts for being scared of GTA 6. The pre-orders alone probably crashed half the internet back in June. The Extended Look just aired and people are still dissecting every frame. If you're a niche space sim, launching in that window is basically asking to be forgotten.
What do you all think, is this a smart move or just another excuse for a game that's never coming out?
