letterboxd users are rating the gta 6 extended look like it's a real movie

Saw Dexerto mention this and it's kind of funny. Letterboxd, the app people use to log movies they've watched, is apparently full of reviews for the GTA 6 Extended Look. And they're treating it like an actual film release, not just a game trailer.

I get it though. Rockstar has always been good at making trailers feel like short films, but the Extended Look was on another level. The pacing, the music, the way it cuts between Lucia and Jason. It's not hard to see why someone would log it next to whatever else they watched this year.

What gets me is that it's being called one of the best movies of 2026 on there. Not one of the best game trailers. One of the best movies. That's a different bar entirely. I've seen people joke about Rockstar winning awards for their trailers before, but this is the first time I've seen a game marketing video actually get that kind of treatment from a movie-focused community.

I'm not saying it deserves an Oscar or anything, but if you told me a 10 minute look at a game would be sitting alongside actual films in people's year-end lists, I'd have laughed. Now I'm just wondering how many of those reviews are from GTA fans who made a Letterboxd account just for this.

I'd make an account just for this. Those cruising shots had more car culture in 10 minutes than most movies manage in two hours. Proper lowriders, widebody stuff, clean paint. That's cinema to me.

Five stars and my review is just "the body kits." Letterboxd can deal with it.

ngl as a broke student whose movie budget is currently zero dollars, a free 10 minute rockstar film is exactly my speed. i'd log it, four stars, review just says "watched this instead of paying for streaming again"
