Rockstar boss says GTA 6's police "can be harder" to shake off than before, "but it's fun" because it forces you "to think more"

Saw a GamesRadar piece where Rob Nelson talked about the police in GTA 6. He said they have more persistent memory now. So if you ditch a cop in one part of the city and they see you again later, they might actually remember you instead of resetting like in V.

That's kind of a big deal. In GTA 5 you could just drive into an alley, wait 30 seconds, and the wanted level vanished. Here it sounds like you'll have to actually change your approach. Nelson said it can be harder to shake them off, but he thinks it's fun because it forces you to think more during chases.

I'm torn. On one hand I don't want every mission turning into a 20 minute escape where the cops are psychic. On the other hand, the old system got boring fast. If the police remember your car or your last known location, chases could feel way more tense. You'd have to switch vehicles, use alleys, maybe change clothes or something. That's the kind of depth I wanted from the wanted system.

He didn't go into specifics about how the memory works, just that it's more persistent. Could mean they remember your face, your car, or just that they stay searching longer. Either way it sounds like losing the cops won't be as simple as hiding behind a dumpster for ten seconds.

What do you all think, do you want police chases to be harder or is that going to get annoying after the fiftieth time?
