Rockstar wants GTA 6's Jason and Lucia to inspire the same sort of "emotional connection" that Red Dead Redemption 2 fans had with Arthur

Saw a GamesRadar piece about Rockstar talking up Jason and Lucia, and the one line that stuck with me is them saying they wanted to see if they could bring some of those elements into GTA 6. They're talking about the stuff that made Arthur in RDR2 stick with people for years after the credits rolled.

That's a big ask. GTA protagonists are usually fun and quotable, but I don't think most players get choked up about them the way they did with Arthur. Trevor, Michael, Franklin, CJ, Tommy, they're all great, but it's a different kind of attachment. Arthur felt like a person you lived with, not just a character you controlled.

Rockstar hasn't said how they're planning to pull that off with Lucia and Jason. The quote is pretty vague. But it does tell me they're thinking about the story differently this time. Maybe the Bonnie and Clyde dynamic gives them room to build something slower and more personal. Or maybe it's just marketing talk, who knows.

I'm cautiously into it. If they can make me actually care about what happens to these two by the end, that would be new for GTA. RDR2 earned that through a lot of quiet moments, camp conversations, and choices that felt like they mattered. GTA 6 would need its own version of that, not just a copy.

Anyway, glad they're at least aiming for it. Better than just another crime spree with no weight behind it.
