Fable director says he's glad they dodged the GTA 6 window, calls late 2026 chaotic

Saw this interview with Ralph Fulton from Playground Games and it's pretty funny how openly they're talking about GTA 6 now. Fable was supposed to hit this year, but it got pushed to February 2027. Fulton said he feels great about the new timing, and the reason is pretty obvious to everybody.
He told IGN that the delay wasn't because they were scared of other big games, but the rationale is absolutely sound. He's glad they're avoiding what he called a chaotic window. That window includes Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4 on October 23 and GTA 6 on November 19. He didn't name GTA 6 in this interview, but back in June he straight up said avoiding Grand Theft Auto makes sense.
Fulton also mentioned that having a much less contested window lets them make a moment for themselves and get the attention the game deserves. Which is fair. Nobody wants to launch a big RPG two weeks before Rockstar drops the biggest game of the decade.
There was some combat footage from Gamescom that looked rough, but GameSpot's own hands-on time said it played way better than that video suggested. So maybe Fable will be fine in February.
Honestly, any dev that can move out of November 2026 should. Rockstar is going to eat everyone's lunch that month.

cant blame em. november belongs to rockstar and everyone else is just background npcs that month.
Smart repositioning. You don't run a job when the whole city is locked down.

That's about right. February gives them clear comms and a clean escape route. Better to take a smaller cut of attention than get wiped in the blast radius.
Can't say I blame Fulton for ducking out. November 19 is going to be absolute mayhem for bandwidth and media oxygen. Even if Fable's combat felt better in those hands-on previews, that Gamescom footage might've been enough to bury it under the hype.

Basically. The storefront algorithms alone could suffocate anything without a Rockstar logo.
I'm curious whether the extra months might let them tighten up physics interactions. The combat felt better to journalists, but I wonder if the delay gives room to fix edge cases where enemy ragdolls clip through terrain or spells behave oddly during co-op. Those are the things that kill immersion in a big RPG.
February seems safer. But is it too safe? RPGs need momentum.
Can't blame Fulton for moving Fable out of the blast radius. I'm lucky if I get two nights a week.

That's me in November. I'll be in Leonida. February works better for my schedule anyway.
