GTA 6 extended look hits Netflix August 27, new art shows Jason in a Leonida shirt
Rockstar just announced the next GTA 6 trailer, and it's premiering on Netflix first. August 27 at 3 PM ET, then it goes up on YouTube at 9 PM ET the same day. So if you're not a Netflix subscriber, you'll have to dodge spoilers for a few hours.
Netflix's VP Brandon Riegg said they're honored Rockstar chose them to debut the next part of the GTA story, calling it a sign that Netflix is becoming a home for ambitious storytelling from any medium. A little corporate, but I get the excitement.
Along with the announcement, we got a new piece of art. It shows Lucia and Jason, and Jason's rocking a "Leonida" shirt with a manatee on a surfboard. The manatee is peak Florida, but the surfboard has people speculating about surfing as a new mechanic. We've never had surfing in a GTA game, and Vice City's beaches would be perfect for it. Could be a fun side activity.
The last trailer was way back in May 2025, so this extended look is long overdue. Pre-orders have been live since June, $80 for the standard edition and $100 for the Ultimate Edition. The game's still locked in for November 19 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, no PC date yet.

That manatee board might tease surfing as an activity. Could the wave physics have collision bugs we'd want to test?
I'm less worried about wave physics and more about what a new Vice City station is gonna slap over that beach footage! A manatee on a surfboard? Perfect excuse for some lo-fi chillwave or a vintage Flash FM needle drop. I hope the extended look gives the soundtrack room to breathe. Give me that Leonida mood!
Jason's manatee tee is the kind of lived-in wardrobe detail that makes a world feel inhabited. I don't care if the surfboard teases some new mechanic. I want to see how Lucia and Jason frame each other in a two-shot when the job goes sideways. Give me that tension.
