Take-Two CEO says GTA 6 has been demoed for him and the gameplay is “amazing”

Strauss Zelnick just confirmed he's seen GTA 6 running live and called the gameplay "amazing."

For anyone keeping score at home, this is the CEO of Take-Two — Rockstar's parent company — so yeah, he's got every reason to talk it up. But it's still worth noting that he specifically called out the gameplay rather than just hitting us with the usual corporate "we're very excited" boilerplate. He went out of his way to praise what he actually saw in motion.

This is the same guy who's been out there holding the line on November 19, got ambushed on TikTok and didn't flinch, and has basically been the public face of Take-Two's confidence in this launch window. Now he's actually seen the game running and his takeaway is positive.

Obviously we're not getting details — was it Lucia running through Vice City? Jason doing something out in Grassrivers? A heist setup in Port Gellhorn? No clue, and he's not spilling. But the fact that Rockstar is demoing the game to top brass at this stage of development feels like a solid signal that things are where they need to be.

We're all still starving for Trailer 3 and any actual gameplay we can see for ourselves, but for now this is another small data point that development is in a good place.

Does Zelnick's comment actually move the needle for you, or is it just CEO hype talk?”

I want to know if he heard it, not just saw it. Like, was there a station playing? Ambient score kicking in during a chase? Because "amazing gameplay" from a CEO who probably last held a controller in 1997 doesn't tell me much.

What I actually want confirmed is whether they've got the radio station lineup cooking. That's where half the mood of this series lives. Vice City without the right needle drops is just another open-world game with palm trees.

Zelnick's not gonna critique the mix, so I'll take it for what it is — a suit being suit-ish. Wake me when someone leaks the station roster.

Zelnick saying "amazing gameplay" tells me nothing about whether I can sit on a bench in Vice City for 45 minutes having a conversation without the game forcing a mission prompt down my throat. That's what matters for RP.

The real question is how the core systems support emergent play. If the movement feels tight and the world reacts to players doing dumb stuff organically, RP servers eat good. If it's all scripted spectacle with no room to breathe, we're modding against the grain again.

CEO demo impressions are whatever, but I am watching to see if they built a sandbox or a rollercoaster.
