Console players are paying $80 to beta test. That's not a hot take, it's just math. By the time the PC version drops, it'll have a year of patches, mission scripting fixes, and performance tweaks. I've 100%'d every GTA since III, and launch versions are always the worst. Remember GTA V on PS3? 25fps dips, pop-in, and that one Strangers and Freaks mission that could softlock. The PC version a year later was a different game.

Mods alone make the wait worth it. First-person mods, handling overhauls, mission replay editors. The console version is a locked box. The PC version is a sandbox. And that pre-order Vintage Vice City Pack? You'll get better outfits from a NexusMods collection within a week of the PC launch.

Performance is the clincher. 30fps with drops on a base PS5? No thanks. I'll take 4K/120 with DLSS and zero compromises. The definitive edition isn't the one that ships on disc. It's the one that ships a year later, after the community fixes what Rockstar won't.

this. so much this. ...nah, i'm kidding. You're not wrong about the patches and the mods, but there's something about being there week one when everyone's still figuring the map out.

Back in 04 we didn't wait for the "definitive" version. We played what we got, frame drops and all. That first month of San Andreas was chaos. Softlocks, Big Smoke's train mission eating saves, doesn't matter. It was the shared mess that made it stick.

PC'll be better, no doubt. But by the time it drops, the community's moved on to spoilers, meta, and speedruns. I'd rather pay the 80 and ride that launch wave than wait in the wings for a perfect build.
