GTA 6 Boss Says PC Is Becoming “More And More Important”

Zelnick was at the virtual shareholder meeting today and dropped a line that's got PC players feeling pretty good. He said Take-Two's general approach is to release games on any platform where there's a meaningful audience. Then he added that PC is becoming more and more important to the company over time.

He wasn't talking about GTA 6 specifically. But come on. We all know how Rockstar does it. GTA 5 hit consoles in September 2013 and didn't touch PC until April 2015. That's 18 months. Red Dead Redemption 2 was faster, about a year between console and PC. So the pattern is there.

The interesting part is the sales numbers he threw out. Back in 2007 when Zelnick joined Take-Two, PC sales for NBA 2K were around 5% of total volume. Now for a big title, PC can be 45 to 50% of sales. That's a massive shift. No wonder he's calling it more important.

Some people keep bringing up the Sony co-marketing deal as the reason GTA 6 isn't on PC at launch. Zelnick already shot that down months ago. He said Rockstar launches GTA on console first because you're judged by serving the core audience. Which makes sense, the console crowd is where the day one sales are.

I'm not buying a PS5 just for this. I'll wait for the PC version, even if it takes a year or more. The modding scene alone will be worth it. GTA 5 on PC is still alive because of mods and RP servers. GTA 6 on PC is going to be insane whenever it finally drops.

No official announcement yet, but at this point it's not a question of if. Just when. And how long we have to dodge spoilers.
