Obbe Vermeij thinks AI ports could push Rockstar to ship GTA 6 on PC early

So GamesRadar picked up on something Obbe Vermeij said, and it's the kind of comment that sticks with you for a bit. The former Rockstar guy reckons the studio might look at getting GTA 6 onto PC earlier than usual, and the reason is AI.
His logic, roughly: AI tools are getting good enough that people could put together their own PC versions of console games, and that's a mess nobody at Rockstar wants to deal with. So instead of sitting on the console version for a year or two like they usually do, they might move faster. In his words, the tech really has changed the world.
Worth remembering that Vermeij hasn't been at Rockstar in about two decades. He's a smart guy with a real read on how the studio thinks, but he's not in the room. Still, the point lands.
why this one actually got me thinking
We've been through this dance before. GTA 5 took ages to hit PC. RDR2 took over a year. It's basically a tradition at this point, and PC players have learned to just sit there and wait while everyone else plays.
But the landscape's different now. If people can cook up unofficial ports faster than a studio can ship an official one, that's a problem with real money attached to it. Rockstar's not stupid. They know where the demand is.
Does that mean we're getting a PC version close to launch? No idea. Nothing official has been said, and I'm not holding my breath. But it's a nicer thought than the usual "wait two years and like it" version of events.
the part I'm less sure about
AI porting sounds scary in theory, but in practice I doubt anyone's building a working GTA 6 PC build out of thin air anytime soon. These games are enormous. It's not a modding job.
Still, Vermeij knows the culture at that studio better than most. If he thinks the threat is real enough to change their plans, that's worth filing away.
For now it's PS5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 19, and no PC announcement. I'll be over here refreshing the news page like an idiot, same as always.
