criminal profile system is more like an alignment chart than a honor bar
I was confused at first why there were four states if it worked like the honor system. You'd only need two or three tiers for that. But then it clicked: it's four because it's based on quadrants of a graph. Not just tracking what actions you take, but also why and when you do them.
Let's break down the four confirmed states and what each playstyle might look like.
- Professional (top-right): The hardest one to get. You have to be super restrained, not using your strongest weapons to solve every problem. Think Dishonored low chaos. Lots of stealth, casing joints beforehand, planning escape routes. No violence if nobody knows you were there.
- Violent (bottom-right): Still structured like Professional, but the job gets done no matter the cost. Leave no witnesses, take hostages, use human shields. Not random murder though, that brings heat. It's about being ruthlessly efficient.
- Aggressive (top-left): This is what we've seen most in the trailers. Jason roughs up that cashier in trailer 2 but leaves him alive. It's more about the threat of violence, neutralizing targets non-lethally. Suppressive fire to intimidate, shooting out tires instead of killing drivers. I think most story-focused players will end up here because you can still rob stores on a whim but J and L stay likable.
- Psychopath (bottom-left): You're a mass murdering psychopath. Basically how most people play GTA already. Just some dialogue changes to reflect it, like Trevor.
The Aggressive state is probably the first mission that introduces this system. They'll show you multiple ways to collect that money from the shakedown. I'm hoping it actually plays out this way because it would make replays feel genuinely different depending on how you approach things.
