that 2018 map concept that guessed miami is still weird to me
I keep coming back to this old map concept from 2018 that got debunked pretty fast. It was one of those "1985" maps floating around 4chan and Twitter, and the account behind it was @9teen8E5. Only followed one other account, @VG_Marketing. Last tweets were from 2018 and they mentioned Miami. One of the images had a Take-Two logo on a calendar dated 2015, which is a weird detail for a fake.
A slightly different version of the same map showed up on 4chan in May 2021. That one had the rumored Americas islands that are supposedly gone now. I remember people called it concept art or just fake images at the time, but the Miami call ended up being right. Vice City is the obvious guess for a GTA game though, so maybe it's not that impressive.
The map itself is nothing like what we've seen in the trailers. The current map is Leonida with Vice City, the Keys, Grassrivers, and a bunch of other spots. This old concept looks way more compact and weirdly shaped. Still, the fact that someone was pushing Miami back in 2018 makes me wonder if there was some early info floating around or if it was just a lucky guess.
I'm not saying it's real, it's clearly not. But every time Rockstar shows more of the map I think about this thing. The 1985 account name is also odd, like a reference to the original Vice City era or something.
Do you think any of these old fake maps got anything right by accident, or was Vice City just the easiest guess?
