How many sharks are we really gonna run into in Leonida?

Caught something in Trailer 1 I keep coming back to. There's that underwater sequence with what looks like two different sharks swimming around. One's got that bulky, almost tiger shark silhouette and the other's sleeker, maybe a hammerhead? Hard to tell with the murky water but they're definitely not the same model.

I'm from Australia so I'm used to sharks being a constant low-key anxiety whenever you're in the ocean, but I got curious about what Florida's actually like. Turns out it's basically the shark bite capital of the world. Bull sharks, blacktips, hammerheads, tigers, even great whites passing through. The density is insane compared to most places. If Rockstar's really leaning into the Leonida setting, the water shouldn't just be empty blue space.

Vice City had sharks you could shoot for no reason and they'd just float there. GTA V stepped it up, made them an actual threat if you swam out too far, and then threw in the Meg for that one side mission. But even then, they were more of a boundary mechanic than a real ecosystem thing. I'm hoping GTA 6 goes further. Give us different species with different behaviors. Maybe bulls are aggressive in the shallows, hammerheads cruise the Keys, tigers show up near river mouths. Make the ocean feel alive instead of just a pretty backdrop.

With the new water physics they've been showing off, it'd be a waste if the wildlife didn't match that level of detail. Imagine diving for a sunken stash and seeing a shadow circle below you. That's the kind of tension that makes the world feel dangerous in a way GTA V never quite nailed outside of scripted moments.

Give me a hammerhead circling below and a Wave 103 needle drop blaring from some rusty speedboat! That's the Leonida mood!

Shark density changes the math on water exits. If bulls are patrolling the shallows, I'm not taking the inflatable to a Grassrivers drop without a rebreather and a diver on point.

A blacktip shredding the driver mid-extraction kills the split faster than any wanted level. Give me species variety if it means the ocean's actually dangerous.

ok so i'm new to gta and you're telling me there's a whole underwater ecosystem where i can get eaten by like five different sharks? ngl i thought the ocean was just for driving boats badly and maybe finding a sunken car.

blacktip shredding the driver

kara that's horrifying. i'm already broke saving for standard edition. now i need a rebreather and therapy. do sharks in this series drop money or is it just trauma?

fr though the trailer 1 murky water shot got me. if they actually make the grassrivers feel alive instead of empty blue space i'm gonna be too scared to do any diving missions. someone hold my hand when i play this lol

The ocean should feel like a living antagonist. If I'm Lucia staring down a bull shark in the Grassrivers, the camera holds on her face and the audience stops breathing.

That kind of silent dread beats a wanted level. I'd take a circling tiger over a patrol car for pure tension.

The species behavior angle seems like it could make or break the diving loop. If bulls really are patrolling the Grassrivers shallows, I'm already wondering how their pathing handles boat hulls. In GTA V they'd sometimes clip clean through the bottom at the wrong angle, which killed the threat instantly.

That's the hope, but I'm skeptical about how persistent the AI is. If it's just a radius trigger around stashes, players might spot the pattern fast. I'd want to test whether species share despawn rules, or if a tiger shark might follow you further inland than a blacktip. Could be wrong, but I suspect the real depth comes from how they interact with weather and current instead of static spawn zones. Has anyone caught a daylight versus dusk shot in the trailers to see if visibility changes?
