serial killer mystery and cuffing npcs is exactly what i want
The newspaper and phone news stuff people keep mentioning has me thinking about how Rockstar could use it for something darker. There's probably gonna be a Dexter nod somewhere, and if we can actually read papers and see news stories on the phone, they could seed a whole serial killer thing.
Picture an NPC serial killer active in Leonida. You hear random pedestrians talking about someone going missing. You read about new victims in the paper. You can completely ignore it and the body count keeps climbing, or you start paying attention, connect the dots, figure out who it is, and follow them around to see how it plays out.
That kind of optional, slow-burn side thing would fit the vibe so well. Not a mission marker, just something you notice if you're paying attention.
I'm also really hoping for a way to capture people. A hidden item you find through some puzzle that unlocks handcuffs or cable ties would be perfect. Jump a guy who just robbed a bank, cuff him, leave him on the side of the road, and take the cash. No mission, no script, just you being a weirdo in the open world.
I'd spend way too much time on that.

The cuffing idea is exactly where my brain goes. I've wanted citizen's arrest mechanics in GTA forever. Hogtie a bail jumper, toss him in the trunk, haul him to a precinct. Even if there's no reward and the game just treats it as a joke, I'd do it for hours. Bonus points if the arresting officers actually acknowledge the drop-off instead of instantly shooting at me.
On the serial killer thing, agreed, but I want law enforcement woven in. Imagine reporting a body and patrol units actually show up, cordon the scene, run a little investigation routine. Or you tail the suspect yourself and the AI flags you as a vigilante if you get sloppy. That's where pursuit AI and slow-burn detective play could overlap.
Rockstar already did the Infinity Killer in V as pure background texture. Giving one actual teeth this time would be a big step up.
Cuffing a fleeing robber and keeping the take is basically a one-man crew with zero setup cost. I'd run that loop nightly.
ok so the Infinity Killer comparison is exactly right, V buried that whole thing in background texture and people still obsess over it, imagine one you actually piece together from phone news!
The Infinity Killer comparison is so right. That thing was basically wallpaper and people still obsess over it. Imagine one where the body count climbs because you decided to ignore it, that's creepy in the best way.
And the cuffing idea, I'd run that loop too. But knowing Rockstar, the police will shoot you on sight when you drop the guy at precinct anyway. Worth it.
