gloriana plates keep showing up and i think they matter more than we think

Those Gloriana plates in the trailers have been bugging me. People keep saying it's Georgia or Virginia or some mashup, and I'm not about to settle that debate. What I keep coming back to is why Rockstar bothered naming a whole new state just to stick it on a license plate.

The obvious answer is that the in-game internet won't be all Leonida all the time. If the social media feed is supposed to feel like an actual feed, you'd expect posts from Los Santos and Liberty City and maybe some places we've never been. Gloriana could just be one of those background states that shows up in comments or usernames or little video clips. Most of the feed still has to be Leonida stuff because that's where the missions and strangers are, but a few posts from elsewhere would make it feel less like the whole country is one state.

But I keep thinking about the plates themselves. What if you can swap them? Like you steal a car, change the paint, then swap the plate so it doesn't match the description. That would actually make all these different state plates useful. You could pull a North Yankton plate off some parked car and slap it on your getaway vehicle. Maybe there's a little collection angle to it too, cruising around trying to find plates from every state that exists in this version of America.

I don't know if Rockstar would go that deep with it. Could just be flavor. But they made Gloriana for a reason, and a plate swapping mechanic would be a very Rockstar way to make that reason matter. Either way I'm going to be paying way more attention to the plates in the next trailer.

Plate swapping sounds great. Won't happen.

Every cycle it's the same. Someone spots a texture, builds a whole mechanic around it, then launch day it's just a texture. We did this with V, people were mapping out entire systems off single frames.

Gloriana exists to make the fake internet feel bigger than Leonida. Flavor, not a feature. I'd love to be wrong.

Probably right, but let me dream a little! If Gloriana exists, I want to HEAR it. Give it a station, some regional sound, let it crackle through the dial when you're near the border or something. First time Fever 105 kicked in back in the day, that city felt huge. Fake states deserve fake airwaves!

Plate swapping would be the most real customization feature Rockstar's ever shipped. Ask anybody who's actually run heat on a car. First thing you do is ditch the plates. That's straight out of real car life.

Groundwork already exists too. Online let you run custom plates through LS Customs for years, so they know how to build the system. Turning that into swap and collect off stolen rides isn't some huge leap.

Flavor, not a feature.

Probably. But a plate hunt across Leonida is endgame content for people like me. Catch me cruising the Keys at 3am trying to jack a Gloriana. Whole set on the garage wall, ALL of them.
