Saw a post on the sub earlier where someone dropped two overlay images comparing the GTA 6 map to a bunch of older Rockstar maps, and it's one of those things that puts the scale into perspective fast. The short version: you can stack RDR2, GTA 4, GTA 5, and the original Vice City on top of Leonida and there's still open space left over.

I know the immediate reaction is "well yeah, but a chunk of that is ocean." The poster already addressed that though. Those four older maps aren't solid landmasses either. They all carry their own coastlines, rivers, lakes, whatever. So when you line them up like that, the comparison is actually apples to apples.

What gets me is RDR2 alone was already massive, and that was mostly wilderness with a couple of towns. GTA 5 felt huge in 2013 and still holds up. GTA 4 was dense as hell for its time. And the original Vice City is tiny by modern standards but has the nostalgia factor. All of them together inside one map is wild.

If the actual playable area in GTA 6 is even close to what these overlays suggest, the scale is going to be stupid. Rockstar's track record with density and detail makes me think they'll actually fill it rather than leaving empty stretches. My main hope is the rural areas between cities feel alive instead of just being filler highway. If they nail that, driving from one end of the map to the other could genuinely feel like a road trip.
