pistol grip panels might be invisible in gameplay and that bugs me
The Extended Look gave us a ton to chew on, but I keep coming back to the pistol grip panels. Those things are gorgeous. The Ultimate Edition artwork leans hard into them, and it looks like Rockstar put real effort into making grips a visual centerpiece. But where are we supposed to see them during regular gameplay?
RDR2 made custom grips a big deal. Algernon's revolver, Micah's red skull grips, all that. You'd see them on your character constantly. The Ultimate Edition for GTA 6 strongly suggests that same philosophy is back, maybe even more elaborate. But if sidearms disappear into some invisible inventory slot, all that detail only shows up in menus or cutscenes. That would feel like a waste.
Jason is literally waistbanding his sidearm in the promo art for the Extended Look and on the new album cover. Rockstar doesn't usually showcase stuff in promo art that isn't in the game. So that's the part that doesn't add up.
Yet the Extended Look itself, the previews, screenshots, and both trailers show almost zero evidence of visible holstered sidearms. The one exception I caught is an NPC near the start of the Extended Look with his pistol tucked into his waistband. It looks great. But he's not a protagonist with over 1,000 clothing options and all the clipping headaches that brings. Lucia's smaller frame makes it even trickier.
Maybe they could have done it just for Jason, with holsters and mag holders to match his military background. But I suspect Rockstar had a hard rule that whatever Jason can do, Lucia can too. That parity probably killed it. I'm not expecting Jason in dresses either, but the weapon visibility thing feels like it got caught in that same logic.
I'm not trying to be negative. I'm more hyped for GTA 6 than any game ever. This is just the one thing that's been bugging me since the Extended Look, and I don't think that's unreasonable given how much Rockstar's own art leans on those grips.
