my picks for returning characters in gta 6

Rockstar has a habit of bringing back old characters. When GTA V came out, it quietly pulled in a bunch of faces from GTA IV and the episodes. Johnny Klebitz, Packie McReary, the ULP contact, Karen/Michelle, Lazlow, Rocco Pelosi. Some of them got pretty rough treatment. So with GTA VI on the way, I've been thinking about who from the HD universe might show up in Leonida.

My five picks:

  • Martin Madrazo. The cartel boss from V. He's got connections all over, and Vice City has always had a drug trade. Wouldn't surprise me if he's expanded south.
  • Jimmy De Santa. Michael's son. He was a mess in V, but it's been over a decade. Maybe he cleaned up, maybe he didn't. Either way, he could be in Vice City for any number of reasons.
  • Yusuf Amir. The rich guy from The Ballad of Gay Tony. He loved flashy stuff and real estate. Vice City is all about flash. I could see him buying up property in the Keys.
  • Luis Lopez. Also from TBOGT. He was a bodyguard and club manager. Maybe he's running security for someone in Vice City now.
  • Phil Collins as himself. This one's a bonus, but come on. Vice City had the whole Phil Collins concert mission. If Rockstar wants a fun nod, they could bring him back for a cameo.

I don't think we'll get a ton of returning characters. It's been 13 years since GTA V, and even longer since IV. A lot of those guys would be old or dead by now. But Rockstar loves a good callback, and a few familiar faces would be a nice touch. I'm betting on a mix. Mostly new people for Lucia and Jason's story, with a couple of old names thrown in for the fans.

My rule for returning characters: geography has to justify them. Madrazo running product through Port Gellhorn works (cartel logistics practically demand a port town). Yusuf snapping up Keys real estate works too. Jimmy De Santa though? That's just Los Santos leaking east with no reason for it. Give me Luis managing a club on Ocean Drive instead, that city runs on nightlife.
