GTA 6 Screenshot Suggests It Won’t Be Shy About Movie References

Saw the new shot Love magazine put up on Instagram and my brain went straight to Pumpkin and Honey Bunny. GTA 6 Countdown already did the side by side with the Pulp Fiction diner scene and yeah, the framing is way too close to be an accident.

Lucia's gripping her pistol under the table. Jason's got his hand on his too. There's an empty duffel bag sitting right next to her. If they're just enjoying breakfast, Rockstar picked a weird way to show it. Everything about that image says they're about to rob the place.

It fits the Bonnie and Clyde angle they've been pushing since the first trailer. Two lovers, both criminals, probably in over their heads. Pulp Fiction's diner robbery starts the same way, two people who think they have a plan and then it spirals. Given how Vice City wore its Scarface influence on its sleeve and GTA 5 had Heat all over the heist missions, I'd be shocked if this was just a fun visual nod.

The Love magazine piece had some writer quotes too. Elizabeth Gauvey-Kern talked about wanting Lucia and Jason to feel vulnerable and tough at the same time, flawed, sometimes right and sometimes wrong, but able to learn from each other. Alexa D'Agostino said writing a fully realized person means you end up with something imperfect but real, clichés included. That tracks with what we've seen so far. These two don't feel like invincible action heroes.

Launch is still November 19 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. The Heat are doing their Vice City court thing the night before. But right now I'm just stuck on that diner shot. If Rockstar is leaning into Pulp Fiction this hard, there better be a mission where everything goes wrong about thirty seconds in.
