macpherson says the story won't take us everywhere and i'm into it
Caught this quote from Paul MacPherson floating around and it honestly makes me more excited, not less.
We don't have time to take you everywhere.
He's the senior VP of environmental art, so when he says the main story won't drag you across every inch of Leonida, I believe him. And I'm fine with it. I'd rather the story stick to a few regions and leave the rest for me to stumble into on my own.
People keep bringing up Blaine County from V, how big chunks of it felt empty once the missions dried up. I get the worry. But from what the Game Informer piece said, Rockstar seems to have packed way more into the corners this time. They had over a decade to think about that exact criticism.
What's got me curious is what they're still not showing. Port Gellhorn and Mount Kalaga keep popping up, but the western and northern parts of the map? Barely anything. I don't think that's an accident. If the story is confirmed to focus on the Keys, Vice City, Grassrivers, Ambrosia, Port Gellhorn and Mount Kalaga, then there's a lot of Leonida we haven't really seen yet.
Rockstar will probably keep marketing the same handful of locations until launch. That's fine by me. 49 days out and I'd rather not know every town and swamp before I boot it up.
Anyone else think they're deliberately holding back a chunk of the map for launch day?
