My bet on the name for that Vapid Explorer clone: Venturer
So we've all seen that new Vapid SUV in the trailer footage, the one that's clearly a Ford Explorer parody. I've been thinking about what Rockstar might call it, and Venturer feels like the frontrunner.
Rockstar loves twisting real-world names into something that fits their universe. Explorer becomes Venturer. Both words are about seeking out new places, but venturer has a slightly more reckless, risk-taking edge to it. That's pure GTA. It's not just a copy, it's a jab.
Someone on Reddit mentioned that Scout would be the obvious pick, but that name's already been used by modders for an Explorer-based vehicle. Rockstar probably wants to steer clear of that. And Navigator? That sounds more like a police interceptor variant to me. I can easily see a cop version called the Vapid Navigator, while the civilian model gets Venturer.
I'm also hoping we get a few different generations of this thing. The Explorer has been around since the 90s, and Rockstar loves sprinkling older models into traffic. A boxy first-gen, a rounded mid-2000s one, and then the current 2026 model would be perfect. They did it with the Stanier in GTA V, so it's not a stretch.
Just a bit of fun speculation while we wait. I'm sticking with Venturer for now.

venturer feels like the frontrunner
not bad but im hoping they dont go too soft with the civilian trim names. in rp servers that suv is gonna be either a detective ride, a suburban dad mobile, or the go-to for fake fib builds. venturer sounds a little clean for the kind of beaters we need.
what i really want is that boxy 90s gen they mentioned. on fivem those older explorers are already popular for pd fleet cars and budget civilian rp. if rockstar drops multiple gens it saves modders months of work.
name doesnt matter as much as the handling flags and how many liveries it can take. if it has proper police slots and doesnt handle like a boat, rp servers will run it into the ground either way.
name doesnt matter as much as the handling flags
Hard agree. I dumped way too much into vehicle warehouses back in the day. A boxy 90s SUV with four doors and actual trunk space? That's a $50K beater that pays for itself in resupply runs. Call it the Venturer, the Navigator, whatever. If it doesn't handle like a fridge on rollers and it can fit a full MC resupply squad, it's worth more than half the sports cars on Legendary Motorsport.
Multiple gens is where the real money sits though. A used spawn saves you purchase cost entirely. Free ride beats $79,999 any day.
ngl i had to google what a stanier was. new player moment lol
venturer sounds like a hydration backpack they'd sell at an outdoor store, ngl. not mad at it though. i'm just here hoping the used 90s one spawns for free because some of us are eating instant noodles until november.
if it has proper police slots
wait what are police slots. is that like a lightbar or can i actually pull people over in freeroam. someone explain i'm lost.
navigator sounds like a gps brand so i'm team venturer by default. but if it drives like a boat i'll just steal a blista instead fr
venturer sounds like a hydration backpack
It kinda does. Rockstar's never been subtle.
I'm more worried it'll drive like the old Granger from V. Same boat physics, different badge. The Stanier callback is nice but let's see if traffic cars actually have distinct weight this time. Otherwise it's another copy-paste chassis.
As for that 90s boxy gen, I'll believe it spawns in the wild when I see it. Trailers show curated shots. Used car variety always looks thicker in previews.
