GTA V's theme was pure West Coast hip-hop, which made total sense for Los Santos. But Vice City and the rest of Leonida? That's a whole different vibe. I've been thinking about what Rockstar might cook up for the main theme, and I can't shake the idea of a big cultural mashup.
Picture this: the driving force is a Puerto Rican bomba rhythm, those deep, rolling drums that just feel like a humid night. Layer in some Jamaican R&B and afrobeat grooves, maybe a little dancehall swing. Then sprinkle in some Haitian kompa for that syncopated, melodic bounce. And to tie it all back to that neon Vice City aesthetic, wash it over with 80s synthwave pads and a sax line that wouldn't be out of place on a Kavinsky track.
It's not just about one sound. Leonida is a melting pot, and the music should reflect that. The original Vice City leaned hard into the 80s, but GTA 6 is set in modern day with all that history baked in. A theme that mashes up those influences could be incredible. The map itself should dictate the groove. Up in Grassrivers you'd want something slow and humid, but get near Port Gellhorn or out to the Keys and those rolling drums should hit hard. Vice City proper keeps the neon pads (it's totally earned, given the history).

Exactly my fear. Nothing tanks immersion faster than generic "tropical" muzak (probably piped into every beachfront hotel lobby) when I'm moving product through Ambrosia. If Rockstar locks specific sounds to actual districts, like Los Santos radio shifting from Davis to Vinewood, the state's way deeper. Give me a theme that changes when I'm driving down from Mount Kalaga into Vice City itself. Lucia and Jason deserve a soundtrack that actually knows where they are.
