Rewatching that scene and the more I look at it the more the guy next to Andrés reads as a total leech. He's not there because they're old friends. He's there because Andrés has money and access and this dude wants a cut of both.

So here's where my head's at. What are the odds he tipped off the goons? I'd put it pretty high. The way he carries himself around Andrés, always agreeing, always close, that's someone who'd sell him out the second it benefits him.

Then there's the bodyguard. The one built like a UFC fighter. At first he's just checking the laptop, totally relaxed. But after that little exchange, watch him. He starts sizing Jason up. It's not subtle. It's the kind of look you give someone you've already decided to deal with.

My theory is those two are in it together. The hanger-on saw Jason might actually be the real deal, not just some guy along for the ride. And if Petra put Jason there as insurance, that makes him a problem. So the move is to get rid of him in the chaos, make it look like the goons did it.

It fits too well. The bodyguard goes from bored to focused right after that conversation. That's not an accident. That's a guy realizing the plan needs to change.

I don't think Jason walks away from that ambush clean, and these two are the reason.
