RDR2 hunting in GTA 6? That gator screenshot has me hoping
GTA 5's hunting was basically a Trevor minigame. Shoot a deer, watch it flop over, and that's it. No skinning, no selling parts, just a body on the ground. I always thought it was a waste of the open world.
RDR2 completely spoiled me. The way animals react to a bad shot, bleeding out and crying, it's brutal but so immersive. And the skinning animations, every animal had its own. You really felt like you were out there surviving.
Now I'm looking at that screenshot from the trailer, the one with the swamp folk hauling a truck bed full of gators. That's not just random wildlife, that's a whole operation. It's gotta mean something for gameplay, right?
Maybe we can sell whole carcasses to butchers around Leonida. Or maybe we get the full RDR2 treatment, skinning and all. Jason's ex-military, so he'd know his way around a knife. Lucia's a city girl though, so it'd be a little weird if she's suddenly field dressing a buck. Could be a skill system, or maybe they just let both characters do it for gameplay's sake.
I'm just hoping it's not like GTA 5 where you kill for sport and leave the body. The map's too big and detailed for that. What do you guys think, full RDR2 mechanics or something in between?

I'm not touching gator hauling unless it beats $300K an hour. My nightclub loop prints faster.
maybe the gator hauls are just ambient story stuff. if theyre proper mechanics though, rp servers gonna break it in half fast.
trailer bait
honestly hope youre wrong. my bigger worry is another solo grind with no RP hooks. let civs run butchers and sell to player restaurants. jason being ex-mil fits the knife work but on rp servers everyones gotta do it if its meta.
If it's just ambient set dressing, missed opportunity. But if hauling gators is a full loop, treat it like any job. Assign a driver, a spotter, and a cargo lead. Payout per pound, not per head, so shot placement actually matters. Otherwise it's another minigame that pays pennies.
