I keep thinking about how Rockstar could actually use the weather system for more than just making the world look pretty. We've seen rumors about a way more dynamic weather model in GTA 6, and I'm really hoping it bleeds into mission design.
Picture a heist that only triggers during a category 5 hurricane. The whole setup changes because roads are flooded, debris is flying around, and you can't just drive away in a supercar. You'd have to plan around the storm, maybe use boats or amphibious vehicles. Something like that movie The Hurricane Heist, where the crew uses the chaos of the storm to pull off a robbery. Or Hard Rain, with the city half underwater and you're wading through flooded streets while the rain just doesn't stop.
It'd be a huge missed opportunity if the weather is just a visual thing. Imagine a mission where you're chasing someone on a jetski through flooded neighborhoods, or a stealth section where thunder covers your footsteps. Even small stuff like wind affecting your aim or making helicopters harder to control would add so much tension.
I know Rockstar loves their scripted set pieces, but dynamic weather could make every playthrough feel different. You might get a clear night one time and a tropical storm the next, and the mission adapts. That's the kind of thing that would keep me replaying for years.
