what if jason and lucia's cutscene banter changes with how you play
Rewatched the extended look last night and something clicked. The elevator scene before Brian and Lori, plus the car ride before picking up Raul, both have Jason and Lucia making comments that feel weirdly specific.
In the elevator Jason says he's more comfortable when he can use a gun. In the car both of them basically agree Lucia is the better criminal. At first I thought it was just character writing, but then I remembered how RDR2 handled Mary-Beth. If you talked to her between missions she'd react to how you'd been playing. High honor Arthur got different conversations than low honor Arthur.
What if Rockstar expanded that system so much that whole cutscene conversations shift based on your playthrough? Not just one or two lines, but the entire dynamic between Jason and Lucia. The Raul mission could play out completely differently depending on who you've been controlling more, or how each character's criminal profile has developed.
Imagine that mission with the roles swapped. Jason driving, telling Lucia she could learn a lot. That would be a pretty big deal for mission structure too, not just dialogue.
I know people will say cutscenes are probably mocapped and locked in, but Rockstar has done adaptive dialogue before. The criminal profiles from the extended look might be the key. If the game tracks how you play each character, it could feed that into scenes like this.
If Rockstar pulled that off, every playthrough would feel like its own cut of the same story. That's the kind of thing that keeps me replaying for years.
