gta+ preorder bonus window might be telling us when online drops
The redemption window on the GTA+ preorder bonus is bugging me. Four and a half months after launch to use it. That's a weirdly specific cutoff if you think about it.
Launch is November 19. Four and a half months after that puts the deadline somewhere in early April. So whatever this bonus is actually for, Rockstar expects people to be able to redeem it by then. The question is what it's attached to.
I've seen some folks assume it's for current GTA Online. That doesn't really hold up. Plenty of people preordering GTA 6 aren't still playing GTA Online, and Rockstar isn't going to hand out a bonus that a chunk of buyers can't use. Rob Nelson already said on Kinda Funny that singleplayer won't have microtransactions, so it's not going into story mode either.
That leaves GTA 6 Online. If the code is meant for that, the redemption window basically tells us Online has to be live before early April. Otherwise the window would be longer or they'd just wait to start it.
My guess is December for the holiday rush. Rockstar loves a Christmas Online launch, and it gives everyone a month to finish the story first. February is the latest I'd put it, which still leaves a couple months of buffer before the window closes.
Either way, the timing feels deliberate. They didn't pick four and a half months at random. I'm leaning December but February wouldn't surprise me.
