RDR2's weather was beautiful but the timescale ruined it. GTA 6 needs to fix this.
Been rewatching the trailer 2 storm footage and it got me thinking about something that's bugged me since RDR2. The weather in that game was gorgeous, no doubt, but the timescale made it feel so janky sometimes. You'd see this massive storm rolling in from across the plains, all dramatic and cinematic, and then it'd hit and be gone in like two minutes. Or you'd get rain, then clear skies, then fog, then rain again all within 15 minutes. It was like the weather was on fast-forward.
I get that they want variety, but it broke immersion for me. I'd be trying to soak in the atmosphere and the game would just cycle through weather states like it was checking off a list. RDR2's world is so detailed and grounded, and then the sky would do this weird speedrun through a thunderstorm.
Now with GTA 6, they're promising this insane dynamic weather system, hurricanes, flooding, the whole deal. But if the timescale is still compressed like RDR2, are we gonna see a hurricane form and blow over in five minutes? That would feel so off. I'm really hoping they've tweaked how weather interacts with the in-game clock so storms actually linger and feel like events, not just a quick visual effect.
Maybe they'll decouple weather from the timescale entirely, or at least make it more persistent. I don't need real-time weather, but something that feels natural would be huge for immersion. Anyone else notice this in RDR2? What do you think Rockstar will do for GTA 6?
