so if jason and lucia have their own routines, can we actually run into the other one in the world?

That Shosha preview keeps rattling around in my head. The bit about Rob Nelson telling him each character has their own routine, and the one you're not controlling isn't just parked somewhere waiting for a switch. That's a pretty big deal if it's actually how the world works.

I keep imagining it. I'm running around as Jason, maybe cutting through an alley in Vice City, and there's Lucia at a food stand or coming out of a gym. Not a mission trigger, not a scripted moment. Just her living her day. That would be wild.

GTA 5 sort of pretended the other protagonists were out there doing things. Trevor would be drunk on a beach, Michael would be at home, Franklin would be somewhere. But you never organically crossed paths with them. Switching was basically a teleport with a cutscene. You'd pick Trevor and suddenly he's in a completely different part of the map doing something random. It never felt like they shared the same world in real time.

If GTA 6 actually simulates the other character's routine while you're playing, that changes how the whole map feels. You'd start looking for Lucia when you're out as Jason. Maybe you'd follow her for a bit just to see what she does. Or you'd avoid her because it feels weird to interrupt whatever she's got going on.

I don't know if Rockstar would go that far. NPCs with schedules are one thing. A main character fully simulated in the open world is a whole different level. But the fact that Nelson apparently said they each have their own routine makes me think it's more than just flavor text. Could be something you only notice if you pay attention.

Would you actually want to run into the other protagonist randomly, or would that get annoying after a while?
