map dlc? not happening. rockstar's track record says online only

I've been here since the Vice City days. Back in 2002, we got a whole new city in a single game. San Andreas in 2004 gave us three cities, countryside, desert. That was ambition. Now? We're lucky if we get a new island in GTA Online.
Rockstar hasn't done single-player DLC since GTA IV's episodes. They promised it for V, then scrapped it because Online was printing money. Why would VI be any different? Leonida is massive, sure. But the idea that they'll add a second state or even a new city to the story mode... I just don't see it. The post-launch content will be Online. New heists, new cars, maybe a new area for Online, but not for Lucia and Jason.
They're already selling a $99.99 Ultimate Edition with a 'Vintage Vice City Pack' that's probably just some outfits and a car. That's your 'expansion' right there. I want to be wrong. I miss the days when expansions meant more story, more map. But this is 2026, not 2004. The business model has changed. So, am I just a cynical old-timer, or does anyone actually think Rockstar will surprise us with a single-player map expansion?
Map DLC means nothing if the garage is shallow. I'm here for engine swaps, widebodies, and a proper dyno tune. Rockstar knows Online is the cash cow. New city or not just give us more cars to gut and slam. That Ultimate Edition pack better include a PROJECT car.
That's your 'expansion' right there.
Probably accurate. If they do drop new terrain, it'll be an Online sandbox first. For heists, that means new infil routes and extraction points. I'll take it. Just don't make the squad grind another nightclub resupply to unlock a dock.
Online was printing money.
Still is. Cayo Perico nets ~$1.3M in 15 minutes. Story DLC has zero microtransaction hook. That $99.99 Ultimate Edition is a one-time charge. Online keeps shark cards flowing for years. 1.3 million versus zero. The math isn't complicated.
