GTA 6 should let us get high and have NPCs react like in RDR2
RDR2's drinking and smoking was such a small thing but it added so much. I'd spend whole in-game days just chain smoking cigarettes outside the Valentine saloon, getting progressively more wasted until Arthur could barely stand. And the way camp members would call you out if you stumbled in drunk at noon? That was the kind of detail that made the world feel alive.
Now I'm thinking about GTA 6 and how they could take that even further. Vice City in the 2020s, there's a lot more on the table than just whiskey and cigars. Imagine Lucia or Jason being able to smoke a joint and then their dialogue gets all slow and giggly, maybe they forget what they were doing mid-mission. Or if you go the other direction and have them do a line, suddenly they're talking a mile a minute, fidgeting, way too aggressive in conversations. The NPCs should notice too. If you show up to a heist prep absolutely wired, your contact might refuse to work with you. Or if you're too stoned, you miss a cue and the whole thing goes sideways.
I'm not saying it needs to be a full-on drug simulator, but RDR2 already proved Rockstar can make substance use feel like a natural part of the character's state. The drunk mechanics were hilarious but also kind of tragic when you pushed it too far. GTA 6 could lean into that even harder with the modern setting. Different highs, different lows, and the world reacting to you differently depending on what you're on. That's the kind of immersion I'm here for.
