the npcs just hanging off the edge watching the dirt race, how did i miss that
Rewatched the Extended Look for like the tenth time and finally caught it. There's a shot of a dirt race and off to the side some NPCs are just sitting on the edge, legs dangling, watching. Not doing anything else. Just watching the race. I had to pause and go back because I genuinely didn't register them the first few passes.
That's the kind of thing that gets me more than any big set piece. Rockstar puts in these tiny background moments that most people will never even see, and they still bothered to animate them properly. Not just standing there, actually sitting on the edge like they're at a real event. The immersion from that is wild.
I'm pretty sure there's a ton more in that Extended Look we all glossed over. Every rewatch I catch something new. First time I was too busy staring at the map or the driving physics. Then it was the NPC routines. Now it's this. The game is probably packed with stuff like this that won't get noticed until months after launch.
What's funny is these details don't need to exist for the game to work. Nobody would complain if the dirt race had no spectators. But they added them anyway, and that's the difference between a world that feels scripted and one that feels alive. I'll probably spend my first week in Leonida just walking around watching NPCs do their thing instead of actually playing missions.
