dazed character shots got me back on the hype train
I keep going back and forth on this game. Some days I'm counting down to November, other days I don't even want to think about it. Then I saw the DAZED character shots and got pulled right back in.
Those faces are something else. The detail on some of the side characters is wild. Lucia and Jason especially, you can already see how their look is going to shift over the course of the story. That kind of visual progression is the thing I'm most curious about right now. Rockstar nailed it with Arthur's weight and hair in RDR2, so if they're applying that same energy to two protagonists it could be a whole new level.
Boobie Ike and Roxy are the two I keep thinking about. Boobie gives me Gerald from V vibes, the guy you go to when you need work but don't want to deal with the main crew's drama. Roxy feels like one of those night workers from the old games, the kind you'd pick up and drop off in a beat up car. If they're both actually involved in the story and not just background filler, that's a good sign for how dense Leonida's cast is going to be.
And yeah, I know "tone" is a vague word. I meant it more like the overall feel of the graphics and physics and how the game plays moment to moment. The character models are one part of it, but if the movement and combat match that quality, this thing is going to hit different.
I'm not trying to overanalyze a few photos. I just like what I'm seeing. The DAZED shots made me remember why I was excited in the first place.

The side character detail is what gets me too. When even the background people look this real, whole city feels alive, not just the missions. Boobie Ike is such a funny name, sounds like a guy my uncle knows here in Brazil.
If they really do the hair and weight thing from Arthur with two protagonists at same time, that's crazy amount of work. But it's Rockstar, they love this stuff.
Boobie Ike as the new Gerald would be perfect. Gerald missions paid like $15k for ten minutes of work, terrible rate, but you ran them anyway because the guy had personality.
The hair and weight system on two protagonists is what I'm watching. Arthur's beard grew in real time and I still spent half of RDR2 at the barber. Double that and I'll lose actual grinder hours to grooming. Worth it.
