the hair physics in the extended look are actually unreal, slowed it down and zoomed in
Caught the extended look again last night and had to slow it down to 0.25x just to watch the hair. We all knew Rockstar was going hard on hair physics and styles, but the interactivity is what got me. Jason and Lucia both run their hands through their hair and the strands actually move around. Like individual strands, not just a clump. And it's not just the protagonists either. NPCs do it too. I've never seen that in a game before, not like this.
It's the little stuff that sells the world. You see someone fix their hair after getting out of a car, or Lucia tucks a strand behind her ear and it stays there for a second before falling back. The way it reacts to wind and movement is one thing, but the hand interaction is a whole other level. I keep thinking about how different styles will behave. Curly hair, braids, ponytails, wet hair after swimming. If the base system is this detailed, the variety could be wild.
I'm not usually the type to obsess over graphics, but this feels like one of those details that makes the game feel alive in a way we haven't seen before. RDR2 had great hair growth and physics, but this seems like a big step up. The fact that NPCs have the same level of detail is what really sells it. You're not just watching a cutscene, you're seeing it happen in the world around you.
What style are you giving Lucia first, and how do you think it'll hold up in a rainstorm?
