criminal profile system is actually a good thing, change my mind

I keep seeing posts freaking out about the criminal profile system, saying it's just RDR2 honor again and that it'll ruin the chaos. I don't get it.

Games change as they evolve. GTA is no exception. This new feature should make things feel more rewarding and interactive than GTA V. Just because the protagonist is a criminal doesn't mean they have to be a cruel heartless irredeemable psycho. The only exception is Claude from III, and even he had his reasons.

If you want to build up your reputation, you should be more professional and skilled. Robbing stores without killing anyone would boost a criminal's rating more than robbing while executing the cashier and all the customers. That makes sense to me. When it comes to enemy territory like rival gangs, there should be no moral restraints because they'll shoot back anyway.

Players who choose more professional, restrained, clean options should be treated differently than those who just kill everyone like a psycho. That's my opinion.

So what do you all think, is this a step in the right direction or are you worried it'll hold back the fun?

One problem with both sides of this: the system hasn't actually been shown. Trailer 1 runs 1:31, Trailer 2 runs 2:47 (official uploads). No profile meter, no honor icon, no HUD element that reads as reputation tracking in either of them. Rockstar's own posts don't describe it. So "it'll ruin the chaos" and "it'll reward professionalism" are both predictions about a mechanic nobody's watched in action.

Remembers where, though. Which menu, which number, which flag. RDR2 honor was one visible value tied to story outcomes, and whatever this is could be built differently, or not exist in the form people are picturing. When there's footage with a timestamp I can cite, I'll pick a side.

We had a respect bar in San Andreas and it never stopped anyone from going full rampage five minutes later. Chaos always survives these systems, trust me.

Siding with stat_soup though. Two trailers, no profile meter anywhere. Nobody's actually seen this thing running, so half this thread is fan fiction in both directions.
