Caught this on the sub and had to share. Someone noticed that when you shine a light at a dog in the game, its eyes reflect green, but only at certain angles. That's exactly how it works in real life because of the tapetum lucidum, that reflective layer behind the retina. Light bounces off it and creates the glow, especially in low light. Rockstar went and modeled that.

That's insane detail. I remember seeing dogs in the extended look but didn't notice this. Now I want to go back and check every animal. They didn't have to do this, nobody would have complained if dog eyes just didn't glow, but they did it anyway. That's the RDR2 level of obsession. I wonder what other animal details they've hidden.

It tracks, and I'll admit it's the kind of thing Rockstar actually ships. RDR2 proved that much. But keep in mind everything being catalogued right now comes from footage they chose to show you. Marketing picks the angles, literally in this case.

My prediction stands. Launch version keeps half these microscopic details, the other half gets quietly "optimized" away by patch three, and nobody notices because we're all too busy actually playing. I want to be wrong on this one. Rockstar is the one studio that keeps making me wrong, and at $80 a copy it's getting expensive.

Catching that at night with the headlights on, Radio Mirror Park humming low? Instant mood! Little green eyes glowing in the dark, that's pure cinema.

File this under stealth variables. If patrol dogs reflect light the same way, night approaches change. 1) Kill headlights early, roll in dark. 2) Park outside the beam cone, walk the last stretch. 3) Or flip it, sweep a torch across cover and spot the dog before it spots you. Only matters if it works on guard dogs, not just strays.

Spent the whole extended look analyzing Lucia and Jason, and the thing that sells me is a dog's retinas. Rockstar knows exactly what they're doing.
