What if GTA 6 had a built-in 18+ filter for parents?

Saw a post on Reddit that got me thinking. The idea was basically a set of optional mature content toggles buried in the settings menu, not on by default, and locked behind a password so kids can't just flip them back.

You'd have a master switch called something like "Enable 18+ Filters" and then a bunch of individual checkboxes underneath. So you could pick and choose what gets toned down:

  • Strippers keep their clothes on. No topless, no fully nude.
  • Prostitutes just don't appear or can't be interacted with.
  • Swearing gets bleeped or the audio cuts out for those words.
  • Blood disappears. You can still run people over, but it's a clean, cartoonish splat with no red.

The password protection is the part I actually like. If a parent sets it up, the kid can't just go into the menu and turn everything off without knowing the code. It's not foolproof, but it's a decent barrier for younger kids who aren't going to brute force a PIN.

I know some people are gonna say "just don't let your kids play GTA" but let's be real, that ship sailed years ago. Every 12-year-old on the planet was playing GTA 5. A filter like this would at least give parents a way to dial things back without having to stand over the kid's shoulder the whole time. And since it's all optional, the rest of us can ignore it completely.

I'd probably leave the blood on and just kill the nudity if I had a younger sibling watching. The cussing toggle seems pointless though, half the fun is the random NPC dialogue. But hey, options are never a bad thing.
