valor mortis cast has nergal from behemoth, plus vincent cassel as napoleon
Saw this over on GameSpot and figured some of you would get a kick out of it. Valor Mortis, the first-person soulslike from the Ghostrunner devs, just dropped its main voice cast and it's got a black metal frontman in there. Adam "Nergal" Darski from Behemoth is playing Captain Raphael. If you've heard his growls, you know that character is gonna sound intense.
He's not totally new to voice work either. He did The Black Cat in Blacktail back in 2022 and narrated Apocalipsis in 2018. So he's got some range beyond the screams.
The rest of the cast is stacked too. Jennifer English from Baldur's Gate 3 and Expedition 33 is The Shrike. James Alexander from Onimusha and Crimson Desert plays William Dowsett, the main guy you follow. Vincent Cassel is Napoleon Bonaparte, which is kinda perfect casting. Mars Lipowski from CoD is Lucjan Skawinski, Will De Renzy-Martin from The Blood of Dawnwalker is James Stewart, and Yvan Chamouiseau is Louis Moreau.
The setup sounds cool. Alternate 19th century Eastern Europe, Napoleon's endless war caused some supernatural plague, and you're fighting your former comrades who are now undead monsters. First-person soulslike from the Ghostrunner team, so movement should feel good.
It's out October 13 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC for $40. They delayed it from September 24 because that month was packed, and they admitted the lower price is because this fall is so crowded. Smart move honestly.
Makes me think about how Rockstar handles voice casting for GTA 6. We still don't know who's voicing Lucia and Jason, and they usually mix known actors with lesser known ones. Anyone else hoping they pull in some unexpected names like this?
