dragon quest monsters preview is the cosy comedown game after gta 6 and zelda

Push Square just put up a preview for Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World and the angle is basically that November is going to be a bloodbath. GTA 6 on the 19th, Zelda Ocarina of Time remake earlier in the month, plus a pile of other stuff in September and October. I hadn't really thought about what I'd play after GTA 6, but a monster collecting game sounds like the exact opposite of whatever chaos Rockstar is cooking.

The preview calls it a Pokémon-like, which I know gets thrown around a lot, but Dragon Quest Monsters has been doing its own thing for ages. The Withered World is apparently a cosy escape, and after a year of waiting and then probably 100 hours of Leonida, I could see myself wanting something slower. Not saying I'll drop GTA 6, but having a chill game on the side might keep me sane.

What's funny is that Zelda and GTA 6 are both huge open world games, and then this little monster game is just sitting there like the palate cleanser. I don't know if it'll actually pull me away, but the idea of switching from car chases and heists to catching slimes is kind of appealing.

Anyone else thinking about a cosy game to balance out GTA 6, or are you going full Leonida and ignoring everything else until 2027?

Every good double feature needs a quiet second feature, and catching slimes after 100 hours of Leonida sounds right. I'm in.
