Every GTA launch I see the same videos. "Ten things to do first!" and number one is always drive around the entire map, find secrets, hit every corner. I'm tired of it.

From what we've seen in the trailers and that extended look, GTA 6's story looks like it'll move in chapters, same as RDR2. The game pushes you from one part of Leonida to the next as the plot unfolds. Vice City first, then maybe Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, the Keys, who knows.

I get the urge to see everything immediately. But remember chapter 4 of RDR2 when Dutch and Arthur ride into Saint Denis looking for Jack? They stop at the bridge, see the smokestacks, and Arthur has this moment. That dialogue only lands if Arthur hasn't already been there. You could ride to Saint Denis from chapter 2 if you wanted, but then that first impression is gone. The gang being forced into civilization loses its weight.

GTA 6 only gets one shot at introducing Lucia and Jason to each part of the map. I'd rather let the devs reveal it in their own time. Stick to the area the story has you in, explore that thoroughly, but don't sprint north until the game takes you there.

There's always a second playthrough for min maxing, grabbing the best car early, finding all the collectibles. First run should be about the ride.

You paid your $80 or $100, do whatever you want. But I'm keeping my map fog of war intact until the story pulls me through it.

Anyone else planning to hold off on the grand tour, or am I the only one with this kind of self control?
