Remedy says the Max Payne 1 & 2 remakes are still in the works, Rockstar publishing
Remedy just dropped a tiny update on the Max Payne 1 & 2 remakes. They're still in development, and Rockstar is still on board as the publisher. Not a lot of new info, but honestly after all the silence I'll take any crumb.
I know this is a GTA 6 forum, but a lot of us grew up on Max Payne. The first two games were Remedy's babies, and Rockstar published them back in the day too. It's kind of a full circle thing. Remedy's Northlight engine has been doing some heavy lifting with Control and Alan Wake 2, so I'm really curious how they'll handle the bullet time and the noir vibe with modern tech.
Rockstar staying on as publisher is interesting. They're not developing it, but they still own the IP. I wonder how much input they have. The Max Payne 3 style was very Rockstar, very cinematic and grounded. The originals were more comic-book noir with that over-the-top metaphorical dialogue. I'm hoping Remedy keeps that weirdness intact.
No release window or platforms mentioned yet, but since it's Remedy developing, I'd bet on PC and current-gen consoles at least. Maybe even a Switch 2 port down the line.
What's the one thing you absolutely need to see in these remakes to make them feel right?
