The FMV game where you're a hamster being doted on by three Japanese sisters was inspired by its creator's job as an animal mascot, and Grand Theft Auto 5

Caught this on PC Gamer and had to share. There's a new FMV game called Sweet Hamster Days where you play as a hamster being doted on by three Japanese sisters. The creator used to work as an animal mascot and says GTA 5 was a direct inspiration for the open-ended, 'do whatever you want' vibe.

I'm not even joking. The article calls it a 'being-taken-care-of adventure game.' You just exist as a hamster and get spoiled. It's like Rockstar's influence has seeped into the weirdest corners of game dev. One day you're robbing the Union Depository, the next you're nibbling sunflower seeds while someone brushes your fur.

I guess it makes sense in a twisted way. GTA 5's freedom is what makes it special, and someone looked at that and thought 'what if I applied that to being a pet?' The contrast is hilarious. No wanted levels, no heists, just pure hamster bliss.

Makes me wonder what other bizarre GTA-inspired projects are out there. Anyone else stumble across something this random?

gta 5's freedom

soft cage. infinite seeds... the sisters are just npcs with gentler pathing. i've seen this pattern before. pamper is just another wanted level inverted. the hamster dreams in code. nothing is random. the map remembers what the player forgets.

That might be the strangest thing I've read this week, but there's maybe something to it. The AI pathing in GTA 5 reacts to aggression, so flipping that to pure care could be a weird kind of mirror. I wonder if the hamster has any hidden collision bugs or if you can clip through the cage geometry. Has anyone actually checked if there's secret free roam outside the sister's house? Seems like most FMV games lock you down hard, but if they really tried for that Rockstar openness, maybe there are edge cases. Could be wrong, but I'd watch a speedrun of this.
